Multi-sensor automated water quality monitoring and control system for continuous use in recirculation aquaculture systems
AQUAlity is an EU FP7 project for Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) associations that has as objectives to develop a low cost integrated multi-sensor and an intelligent control system optimised for fish farmed species in Recirculated Aquaculture System (RAS). The sensor allows close monitoring and control of levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, ammonia, nitrite, pH and temperature amongst others. The monitoring system is low cost, simple and low energy which makes it suitable for a wide variety of aquaculture applications. The project explores the provision of a facility for optional collaboration between users of the system to share anonymous data gathered by the control system to optimise best practices.
This facility automates data collection of all of the conditions the fish has experienced and decrease the burden that future trends in traceability requirements may bring.
EUROFISH's role is to coordinate all project activities and to disseminate the project results through the Eurofish Magazine and the website.
