Swedish Inland Fishermen's Federation

My history is not that complicated… I have worked my entire life, and been an entrepreneur for thirty years, in various sectors in the agricultural world in Sweden. Most of the time with strawberries, vegetables and since 1997 with lettuce and herbs under glass.

Since 2005 I’ve been a trusted board member and chairman in various levels of Lantbrukarnas Riksförbund LRF (Farmers Union).

At the age of 58, the greenhouse was sold and I was recruited to Svenska Insjöfiskarenas Centralförbund as Managing director. A lot of people asked me what I know about fishery, and my answer was quite clear: Nothing. But I have learned a lot about politics, EU, authorities and humans in farming. I would like to say that fishermen are exactly the same. And fishery, even if it´s a small industry in Sweden, is, as farming, of a great public and political interest.

I will talk about signal crayfish in a short historical context so everyone understand how the crayfish become so important on the Swedish market.
