Pieter Boets currently works a s senior researcher aquatic ecology at the Provincial Centre of Environmental Research (Belgium). He is responsible for the follow-up of the ecological and chemical water quality of lotic en lentic aquatic ecosystems in Flanders. He is also responsible for the development of water management plans to reach the aims as set by the European Water framework Directive. He supports the management on alien invasive species with a main focus on Chinese mitten crabs, fish and crayfish. He is also affiliated to the Department of Animal Sciences and Aquatic Ecology of Ghent University.
