Sofia Papadaki

Prinsus IKE, Greece

Dr. Sofia Papadaki holds a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (2008), an MSc in Industrial Systems Management with a specialization in Energy Management and Environmental Protection (University of Piraeus, 2010), and a PhD from NTUA (2014) in the field of holistic biomass valorization. Her expertise lies in sustainable food and cosmetic product development, with a strong emphasis on bioactive compound recovery from agri-food by-products and marine resources, using green extraction and encapsulation techniques (e.g., spray drying, freeze drying, electrospraying). She has participated in 32 European and national R&I projects, many of which address food system sustainability, circular economy, and the optimization of food processing for improved safety and quality. She has significant experience with analytical methods such as GC, HPLC, XRD, FTIR, UV-VIS, TGA, and DSC, and applies Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Costing (LCCA) tools for evaluating the environmental and economic performance of food-related processes. Dr. Papadaki has authored 30 peer-reviewed publications, contributed to 5 book chapters, and presented over 70 scientific works at international conferences. Her work is cited internationally (Scopus h-index: 9; Google Scholar h-index: 12), and she has been awarded three postdoctoral research fellowships by the Hellenic State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). Her research contributes directly to advancing safe, sustainable, and high-value innovations in the agri-food sector.
