Evaluation of the EU marketing standards framework

EUROFISH contributed to the evaluation of the marketing standards framework for fisheries and aquaculture products (international, EU, and national), including cases of overlap or conflict between norms and modifications of conservation measures that may have an effect on marketing standards.

The objective of the evaluation was to examine the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, coherence and EU added value of the current marketing standards for fisheries products, in accordance with the Better Regulation Package Guidelines. The main focus of the analysis was on the potential for simplification, improved implementation, and enforceability.

EUROFISH carried out interviews in Denmark with companies that import fresh fish from non-EU countries, and with the Danish Seafood Association.
