A 3-year research project, funded by the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme, that proposes a new catch management system for the EU, developed with the involvement of all the stakeholders in the sector. It includes an adaptive management system that is results- and ecosystem-based, considering the experiences from catch management systems in Norway and Iceland.
In 2014, EUROFISH prepared and participated both at the final symposium and at the ICES (International Council for the Exploration of the Sea) conference: Fisheries Dependent Information, where the outcomes of the project were presented. Both events took place at FAO headquarters in Rome.
EUROFISH maintained the project homepage www.ecofishman.com, surveyed stakeholders’ attitudes towards new fisheries regulation methods and disseminated the project results through the EUROFISH Magazine.
