Within the framework contract related to the implementation of the European Fisheries Fund (EFF), a study on inland fisheries was implemented in 2009-2010. EUROFISH was part of a Consortium. This study aimed at defining the scope of inland fisheries, evaluate their socio-economic importance in the EU and identify the potential intervention of the EFF in this area. EUROFISH carried out the surveys in the following countries: Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Sweden and contributed to the writing of the transversal report. This study was used by the European Commission (EC) for its proposal on the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).
