Women play a major role in fisheries and aquaculture. Yet, their voices are not always heard and the work they do is often overlooked. That’s why FAO’s FISH4ACP’s virtual tour will put a spotlight on women in fisheries and aquaculture value chains. The online event will take place on December 13 from 14.30-16.00 (CET) and will take you to The Gambia to learn about women running the show in oyster production and to Zambia, where women are in charge of processing and selling kapenta from Lake Tanganyika. The event will also explore the challenges women face in gaining equal rights and decision-making power, and in improving working conditions. It will also look at initiatives promoting gender equity.
