EUROFISH contributed to the evaluation of the marketing standards framework for fisheries and aquaculture products (international, EU, and national), including cases of overlap or conflict between norms and modifications of conservation measures that may have an effect on marketing standards. The main focus of the analysis was on the potential for simplification, improved implementation, and enforceability. EUROFISH carried out interviews in Denmark with companies that import fresh fish from non-EU countries, and with the Danish Seafood Association that represents the majority of Danish processors and wholesalers. EUROFISH was also in charge of translating the national surveys in the following languages: German, Polish and Hungarian. A synthesis of the written answers received from various operators in various EU MS, as part of the DG MARE questionnaire through the EU expert group was also prepared.
