National workshop “Market requirements for the aquaculture industry in Croatia” in Zadar-Croatia

This workshop was attended by 23 participants representing fish farms, processing companies, universities, and national government and administration. The event was organised in close cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture of Croatia.

Market issues continue to be a major dilemma for the seabass and seabream sector in Europe, therefore the topics of the first two days of the workshop included general requirements for the export of fish and fishery products to the EU, labelling issues, importance of producer organisations and updates on the status of aquaculture and farmed fish products on the EU market, new products from seabass and seabream, new markets, and promotion of farmed fish in Europe, which was presented by EUROFISH experts. Topics such as aquaculture certification standards and case studies from the EU, complying with EU regulations and implementation of traceability in aquaculture, good hygiene practices as well as communication and promotion in the EU and the role of supermarkets in the distribution of fresh fish were presented by
