The first part of the project included an analysis of the seafood trade in the UK focusing on salmon, trout, mackerel, herring, saithe, haddock and shrimp.

The research estimated the shares of selected species of Norwegian origin which were supplied to the UK market from transit countries and the final consumption market in the UK. EUROFISH carried out a detailed analysis of the trade flows, including an estimation of countries of origin of the selected seven species and an understanding of the preferences and tendencies of the producers.

The second part of the project included an analysis of the movement and dynamics of the seafood trade and consumption in other European markets with a focus on Norwegian seafood. Markets in the UK, Poland, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Spain, France and Portugal were analysed. The main objective of the analysis was to understand the movement and dynamics of the seafood trade on selected European markets, and estimate the shares of Norwegian species (salmon, trout, mackerel, herring, saithe, haddock and shrimp) in the trade and processing sectors.
