As part of a series of regional trade events, EUROFISH in cooperation with FAO organised a regional workshop on the WTO and fisheries in Kiev, Ukraine.
The workshop targeted the public sector, industry, NGO’s, and academics involved in fisheries in Central and Eastern Europe, Ukraine and neighbouring countries. The programme of the workshop was divided into several sessions including WTO and fisheries, WTO and dispute settlement, international fish trade, sanitary protection and risk analysis, fisheries subsidies, international law and fisheries management and certification, labelling and traceability issues.
There were 57 participants from 13 countries at the workshop representing the following countries: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. Most countries’ representatives were from industry and government administration. The speakers were from the FAO, WTO and EUROFISH.
