Workshop on “Certification, traceability and market demands” that was held in Georgia. The participants were from the fisheries and public sectors in Georgia. The workshop provided an overview of the types of existing certification schemes (BRC, IFS, ISO 9000, ISO 22000, MSC) within the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, traceability, and market requirements for exporting to the EU.
Certification and traceability play an important role for the exporters of fishery products. The workshop was aimed at clarifying the certification and traceability demands of different European and non-European markets. The objective was to give the participants a good overview of the demands of the export markets concerned, as well as imparting the right skills to choose the appropriate certification scheme for a given market or market segment.
