Eurofish organised an international conference in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye in Istanbul on the 9-10 June 2026. The conference explored current developments regarding processing, certification and trade in the fisheries and aquaculture sector, and provided a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas within these fields.
The fisheries and aquaculture sector is undergoing significant transformation. Fish processing is becoming increasingly automated, with robotics and artificial intelligence being integrated into production lines. Consumer preferences in many markets are shifting away from whole fish towards processed and ready-to-eat products, particularly among younger demographics. The COVID-19 pandemic further accelerated changes in distribution, including greater direct-to-consumer delivery that shortens traditional supply chains. Regulatory and market emphasis on certification and sustainability is rising, notably within the EU through sustainability reporting requirements for large companies. Maximising the potential benefits of these certification demands was one of the focal points of the conference. Experts from several countries shared their insights, and presented on topics such as new trends and developments in the European seafood market, the use of AI and robotics in intelligent seafood processing or the future of analytics and predictive modelling in aquaculture.
Experts from numerous countries addressed the audience to inspire attendees with up-to-date information and solutions that can be implemented in their home countries.
We encourage you to share this information widely among your networks and provide access to more information on the event on this page.
